Windows

Desktop app

The RasterNivo desktop app converts PDFs to JPG images on your Windows PC. It runs on your computer and your files are not uploaded.

Preview for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Download the installer. It isn't signed yet, so Windows may show a warning; choose More info, then Run anyway.

Your account

The app shows a login window when it starts. Use your RasterNivo email and password; if you don't have an account, create one on the website. You stay logged in on this PC, and Log out is at the top of the window, next to your plan and credits.

  • Internet: needed to log in and to start each file, because credits are held before a file starts.
  • Credits: the same credits as the web and the API. You pay only for pages that converted; if the app closes unexpectedly, held credits return to you within a few hours.
  • Privacy: your files and their names stay on your PC. Only the page count and DPI are sent, so your credit log shows these as Desktop conversion.
  • Free plan: one PDF at a time, up to 25 pages and 150 DPI.

Convert your first PDF

  1. Add files. Drag PDF files onto the window, or click Add PDFs… (Ctrl+O). Each file appears in the queue with its page count, size and status.
  2. Choose the pages. Leave All pages, or enter a selection such as 1-3, 5, 8-. Pages are numbered from 1, and 8- means page 8 to the end.
  3. Pick a resolution and quality. 150 DPI is recommended for most uses, and JPEG quality 90 is a good default.
  4. Choose where to save. Under Save to, click Choose folder…. Tick Remember this folder next time if you like.
  5. Convert. Click Convert to JPG (Ctrl+Enter). Progress is shown page by page, and Cancel stops after the current page. When it finishes, click Open output folder.

Click Show advanced settings for:

  • File names: a template such as {original}_page_{page_number:0001}, which gives report_page_0001.jpg. An example is shown as you type.
  • Background: the colour behind transparent areas, white by default.
  • Include comments and stamps (annotations) and Include filled-in form fields, both on by default.
  • Resolution: any custom value from 10 to 600 DPI.

Password-protected PDFs

When a PDF is protected, the app asks for its password. If the password is wrong, you can try again or choose Skip this file. RasterNivo opens protected files only with the correct password, never bypasses protection, and doesn't save passwords.

When something goes wrong

The Status column explains each file's result: converted, partly converted (some pages failed, with the reason), skipped or failed. Your original PDF is never changed or deleted. If a file keeps failing, contact support with the message shown, and please don't send confidential documents.
